Thad Jones

Thaddeus Joseph Jones (March 28, 1923 to 21 August 1986) was an American jazz trumpeter, composer and conductor. Thad Jones was born in Pontiac, Michigan, and a musical family of ten (an older brother was pianist Hank Jones and his younger brother was drummer Elvin Jones). Thad Jones was a self-taught musician, perform professionally at the age. He served in U.S. Army bands during World War II (1943-1946). After the war, Thad Jones continued his musical career, eventually landing with Count Basie in 1954, where he organized the assembly, and is carried out. Basie remained for nine years. Thad received critical acclaim during this period, but does not work Basie. Much of Jones's music was stylistically original and not always the Basie group which he left in 1963. In the early sixties he became a freelance arranger and performer in the New York City.
