Carla Bley

BleyCarla, DO Borg, (born May 11, 1936) is an American composer and jazz pianist, organist and conductor. An important figure in the free jazz movement of the 1960s, is perhaps best for her jazz opera Escalator Over The Hill (released as a triple-LP set) and a book of compositions that have been made by many other artists, including Others known Gary Burton, Jimmy Giuffre, George Russell, Art Farmer and her ex-husband Paul Bley. Bley Born in Oakland, California. His father, a piano teacher and choir of the church, encouraged her to sing and learn to play piano.

After leaving the church, in skating at the age of fourteen [1], he moved to New York dive at seventeen, and became a cigarette girl at Birdland, where she with pianist Paul Bley, whom she married 1957th [2] He encouraged her to begin writing. The divorced two years later. His compositions were to begin soon appear on the register, for example,  Bent Eagle  on George Russell Stratusphunk in 1960, then Ictus on Jimmy Giuffre and Paul Bley Barrage thesis.
