Lee Konitz

Lee Konitz (born October 13, 1927) is an American jazz saxophonist and composer, was born in Chicago, Illinois. The widely recognized as one of the engines of the Cool Jazz is, has Konitz also successfully carried out in the bebop and the avant-garde settings. Konitz is one of the few altoists maintaining a distinctive sound in 50, when Charlie Parker was a great influence on other players. Konitz, like other students of the pianist Lennie Tristano, and theorist, was for the spontaneous composition of lines long observed, with rhythmic melodic interest of the foreign accents or groupings suggest strange note that the imposition of the bar for others.

Paul Desmond, and above all, were heavily influenced by Art Pepper Konitz. Konitz partnership with the cool jazz movement of the 1940s and 50s, including participation in the Birth of Miles Davis of the Cool ‘sessions, and working with Lennie Tristano came to the same period. During his long career, Konitz has with artists played in variety of styles of jazz.
